By reading the following article, next time you find yourself looking to buy property land in ¨Baja¨, and someone says fideicomiso you will know what they are talking about.
Under Mexican law, foreign persons and entities may not own land which is located within the restricted zone, that is, within an area of 100 kilometers from the border and land located 50 kilometers from the coastline. Under such circumstances and regulation, the only way to legally acquire residential property in tourist destinations like; Baja California, Los Cabos, Cancún, Puerto Vallarta and Acapulco, is under a Mexican Trust, or “Fideicomiso”.
